Brainiac Media were contracted to design the website for celebrity photographer Gavin Smith to showcase his work. Gavin Smith's work is fascinating and varied, having a career working with celebrities like Charlize Theron and Prince, as well as spending time as a war photographer where, through his work, he demonstrated the devastating effects of war on people and places.

We were referred to Gavin Smith to help him with creating a new website because his existing website was broken and his previous web provider was unable to fix the problem, we designed Gavin a new upgraded website on the WordPress framework so that Gavin could have full ability to make updates and make changes to his work and website using the easy to use CMS functionality as and when needed, without having to rely on external providers make these content changes for him, we provided video training on how to use the CMS to refer back to as and when needed.
Brainiac Media designed a new modern upgraded website that resonated with Gavin’s brand. The website needed to be clean and modern, to relay the professionalism Gavin’s clients and fans of his work expect. The goal was always to create something clean that did not outshine the photographs but instead draws the person's attention to them all whilst keeping a high level of professionalism.
Our Brainiacs employed the WordPress framework and customised a WordPress photo gallery plugin which meant that Gavin’s photographs could be displayed in an interesting way that would catch the attention of the person who lands on the page. He wanted a modern look and so we created a typeface and style that would communicate modernity without compromising the viewer's attention from the most important part of the website: the photographs.
It was also important that he would be able to connect his Instagram accounts to his website to showcase his work and personal photographs. For Instagram to be connected and easily accessible on the website was vital, this allows more people to connect with him through a different medium. Instagram allows him to showcase whatever he wants to share with the public in a much more relaxed manner than on the website. Instagram can show a client or a fan more sides of Gavin’s work that they may have previously not been exposed to.
Gavin Smith also wanted the website to be simple to use. Along with his clear aesthetic he wanted only 7 pages easily found on a left-hand side navigation bar. Gavin required an easy-to-use CMS system with full control to alter, update or add new work when needed, we provided full video training so Gavin could get the most out of the CMS. This is essential as his portfolio is ever increasing and it's always important to keep your audience engaged by allowing them to see your most recent projects or products. All in all, this website and the CMS allows Gavin Smith to continue doing what he does best: his photography. He is able to reach a wider audience and maintain their interest with a website that is directly targeted and specifically designed to fit his wants and needs.
